  • Travers Park Travers Park (map)

Street Works Earth:

A festival in mid-September that brings together artists, neighbors, & changemakers to co-create art and explore how we can care for our planet and each other. Join us September 20, 2026, 11am-6pm, for Street Works Earth at Travers Park/34 Ave in Jackson Heights, Queens!

Estamos en el Agua / We are in the Water

Please join City as Living Lab (CALL) in celebrating the release of Artist Emilio Martínez Poppe's Estamos en el Agua. Estamos en el Agua is a community artwork taking the form of a newspaper. Created as part of City as Living Lab's Water // Ways Cloudburst Initiative, it recounts the stories of Queens residents. It brings together historical maps and practical tools to confront the growing reality of cloudburst-- sudden, intense rainstorms that flood streets and homes.

During Street Works Earth Fest, CALL will be distributing free copies of the newspaper and collecting flood and water stories from the Queens community to include in the next iteration of Estamos en el Agua.

Emilio Martínez Poppe is an artist who is concerned with the right to the city and the struggle of public memory. Through a social and research-led practice spanning photography, sculpture, text, and installations, he explores the spatial mechanisms and ideological conditions that reproduce state and capital infrastructures.

This is a free event open to the public, registration is not necessary, but preferred.
