CAll Fellows Forum - January 16th

CALL hosts quarterly forums for members of our Fellows Program. These forums delve deeper into the issues that surround our work.

Our next  Fellows Forum, on November 16th, features Peggy Shepard, Elliott Maltby and Louis Bailey discussing design, emergency preparedness, and how urban communities can together face the ecological challenges confronting our cities.

This forum will center around the work City as Living Laboratory is currently developing in West Harlem in partnership with  WeAct for Environmental Justice: +SPACE/EPIK (Emergency Preparedness and Information Kiosk) for the NYCHA Manhattanville Houses.

+SPACE/EPIK will serve as a focal point for information and activity surrounding emergency preparedness, environmental awareness and community development through the arts at the Manhattanville Houses.

More information and registration details can be found here.

CALL WALK: Finding Tibbetts Brook, November 19th

This walk will proceed along a proposed route for daylighting Tibbetts Brook, the subject of our project 'Finding Tibbetts Brook.'

This walk will delve deeper into the significant impact daylighting the brook will have on the surrounding communities in the Bronx. Plagued by flooding and ecological hazards from sewer overflow and fractured by poor urban planning, proposals to restore the wetlands, unearth the brook and create a greenway reconnecting the community will transform this area into a safer and more sustainable place to live.

Meeting at the bottom edge of Van Cortlandt park, Charles McKinney, Eric Sanderson and SLO Architecture Principals Amanda Schachter and Alexander Levi will guide us along the route of the abandoned CSX railway heading towards the Harlem River, which is the ideal path for the daylighted Tibbetts Brook to flow as it restores balance to the ecology of the Bronx.

More info and registration can be found here.
